That's just unacceptable. When you're put in a position of power over others, you shouldn't just inflict mind games and stupid things like that on them. It's disrespectful.

At least, everything that went bad for us went bad because of people who went off and did selfish shit on their own, or who got too focused on revenge and not trusting each other.

I've killed people. But never on a whim. I led an armed rebellion against just about the worst person I've ever known. Plus there's a few years of odd jobs - quests and stuff. Most recently, I've been working for an organization that collects dangerous magical artifacts before they can cause damage. Doing all of these things - you run into a lot of bad people with magic or swords who attack you. So, I killed some of those people.
I can be rough, maybe sometimes rougher than I needed to be, but I also don't go around hurting random people. I've always fought to protect innocent people from danger.

Gonna be honest. I haven't met many nobles or their daughters that care if innocent citizens are suffering. Or, uh, soldiers that help much with that. But if that's what you did, then I respect it.

To have all those problems laid out in front of you and turning a blind eye to it... I can never understand.
