What else can we do, Lili-san? This may be our only hope! And... [He looks away, embarrassed.] ...In the past, I have messed up in your presence. I- I want to take this opportunity to show you how useful I can truly be!
Lili can feel the ground shaking and she's not sure if she is comfortable with really leaving him to go find safety but she just curls her fingers together, clenching them into small fists. She doesn't want him to get hurt. She doesn't want his pride to be bruised. She doesn't want any of this but--]
J-Just make sure that you win! Or I'll really never forgive you!
[He starts to step forward, looking straight through the creature. Why is he doing this? To protect someone, or just to impress a nice new friend? Lee has no idea, but he pauses midstep.]
Lili-san! [He then looks over his shoulder at her with a smile, and raises a thumbs up.]
All will be well! I promise!!
[Rock Lee then dashes forward towards the creature, starting by throwing some shuriken at it just to try to draw its attention.]
She watches him dash ahead - and she wonders how he got so strong. When she considers his kindness, isn't that at odds with how he's so relentless about putting himself in danger? Or maybe it's because of his kindness.... It still concerns her to be left behind, unable to do anything.
She's so tired of being weak.
But regardless, she knows better than to make herself even more of a liability to she'll move to a slightly less open spot - but where she can still keep an eye on him, just to make sure that he's really not getting hurt too badly.]
[He actually did not feel certain of his chances. The only thing that he did feel certain of? Was that he wanted to protect Lili without making her cry.
So he is making sure to try to do his absolute best. He tries to run circles around this enemy, the the tigerphant, and draws its attention while throwing shuriken at it.
But things prove to be tricky due to its number of eyes. Lee's attempt at a sneak attack was spotted, and he was swatted with a trunk. The force sent him rolling along the ground, and he hit a pillar, while the tigerphant prepared to charge right at him.]
That doesn't last long, at least. It's hard for her to be frozen still when he's trying so hard to protect her - to protect everyone. Even though she's not strong, she's not fast, she's determined to not let him fight this alone. So it takes a moment for her to consider her options, but she eventually manages to find some crushed fruit on the ground - apples, lemons, things that people had left behind.
So it's not impressive and it's not smooth, but it's all that she can do to pick up the pieces of discarded fruit and move out of her hiding spot just enough so that she can throw the fruit in the different sets of eyes of the tigerphant, if only just to buy Lee some time.]
There's not a lot more she can do than that, really. Regardless, it does help to watch him make some progress against the tigerphant and she breathes a sigh of relief, even though she knows it's not exactly over.
Which is, of course, when she manages to fall on some rude piece of fruit that was right behind her and it has her landing right hard on the ground with a wince.
[Elsewhere, Lee keeps on doing his best to try to fend off the teyegerphant. At the very least, he has speed and distractions on his side. It's not going to get him to finish this enemy of or even drive him away, though.
Lee stops for a moment, panting, but then it looks like something has sparked for him.]
I've go it! [In fact, he raises his arms and calls out.] Yoooosh! [The teyegerphant definitely seems to hear that and tries to chase after the sound of his voice. Lee keeps on running, naruto style away from the beast, leading it around on a chase.]
Yes, Lili's rather sure that Rock Lee's energy is probably his greatest strength but - she never expected him to use it like that?! She startles and sits up at the yell and observes for a stunned moment as he just.... lures the monster out on a chase?! Ah....
Then she's standing, scrambling as she looks around. If nothing else, there's a lot of trash around - including a couple of broken streamers. Even if she can't fight, she's at least rather resourceful.... so she's quick to start trying to tie the ends of the streamers across in a tight line, using a few still standing stalls as the supports.
Then in some attempt to get Lee's attention, she waves her arms wildly - before giving up and just yelling on her own--]
Lili-san! [He shouts out her name in response as he hears her call. He does look towards her at this point, but he tries to keep his path away from Lili.]
I am not sure! Perhaps you said... to be the greatest hero I truly could be? [Did Lee really forget, or could this be how he jokes? The world may never know. He does then quickly duck under a swing of the creature's trunk.]
[That's not what she said - it's not - but... if he wants to do that, why would she stop him? He's strong. He can run circles and duck this stupid elephant thing. It's... impressive. He could help so many people and...]
... I need you to bring that dumb creature to me!!
[Or at least to where she's set up the tripwire so hopefully it'll be enough for that thing to faceplant itself into unconsciousness.]
[He was about to object and insist on taking care of this matter himself! He wanted to protect Lili, not endanger her. Yet, the objection died on his lips.
And he looked towards her again, and he could feel the conviction in her words ringing in his ears. How could he doubt whatever she had in mind? Lili had to have something planned, or she would not speak.
So Lee suddenly turns and keeps leading the teyegerphant onwards... running straight towards Lili while shouting back to her.]
She can't let him down. So she's certain at that, running over to the sides then so that she can go to the untied side of the streamers, moving to wrap them loosely around another stall at first. If nothing else, she's scrappy and quick and has only gotten more so since she's started to actually train.
So the second that Lee crosses over the streamers, she's moving to tighten the cord of them and tie them in an intricate knot around the post of the stall, pulling and pulling and pulling to make sure that it's tight enough.
She almost doesn't even notice when the tigerphant comes stampeding through, clotheslined by the string of streamers and is left toppling off its front legs, faceplanting onto the ground in an undignified heap with a startled, pained trumpet.
The force of the collision knocked Lili right off her feet though, leaving her on the ground yet again, hands red and heart beating way too fast but....
[Rock Lee put all of his faith in Lili, not even considering what would this plan was or what would happen if he failed. He knew that his comrade could be the hero as well.
And so he does not realize what the plan is until it goes into motion, signaled by the earth-shattering crash. He immediately skids to a halt and looks back to see the enemy has truly fallen, undone by its own powerful body.
Lee stares for just a moment in disbelief. But that quickly fades in favor of a brilliant smile, and he raises his hands ecstatically in a victory cheer.]
Her hands are red and they hurt but she wonders if perhaps this is... a good hurt? The hurt of a job well done where she could do something helpful too instead of just sitting around and waiting for someone to save her. It's a foreign feeling but it's not a bad one.
When Rock Lee is suddenly at her side, she looks up from staring at her hands and instead just looks up at him, blinking.]
[Rock Lee leans over her with a concerned frown. It is sad to see her fallen like this, and he feels bad that it was done for his sake.]
Ah! Is that so?
[But then, his expression quickly shifts into a reassuring smile. On top of everything, he proud of Lili and hopes to help her.]
Then, please... let me help you until you can stand once more! [Then he leans more, to try to princess-lift her up for the moment. After all, there's no telling when another enemy could come along; it's unwise to stay in one place for long, especially with the commotion that they just made.]
[And there she is, right in a princess lift. This has... happened more times than she's really comfortable with. Despite the fact that she understands that Lee doesn't mean to embarrass her and only wants to help, there's no denying the way that her face lights up all red even as her hands fall on his shoulders.]
I apologize, Lili-san. I will be more careful next time! [Don't say it as if it's inevitable...
But generally in contrast, he seemed unflustered for once at carrying her. It was probably more like carrying a fussy cat than anything tbh. He started to trot along in search of the exit while smiling proudly.]
Lili-san... You did so splendidly! I cannot thank you enough. In the end, it was you who truly acted as the hero!

She lets go of his sleeve at that, looking more than a little horrified.]
W-What...?! No, don't throw yourself into danger just to prove something to me!

B-but that is only part of the reason. I am sure that I can find a way to defeat it and protect us! The only other thing we could do is to retreat...!
