PH wasn't working at the store or at the office this week, but they brought food to Tsurumaru each day for me. Of course it relies on trusting that PH was truly doing that but...
[she shrugs. she thinks it's what makes the most sense given what she's been doing]
I guess we can treat each not working host with more suspicion moving forward if you want to do that too.
It might be nothing, but. This week, I was talking to them, and they started saying like. . . it was weird I hadn't tried to find out who was on the teams other than mine, even though I'd said I hadn't because the only reason I'd ever kill someone is if they were a threat.
So - I asked if they thought I should just start killing people on the other teams, and they said 'if necessary.' It just seemed weird. I really like Purple, I wouldn't have expected them to encourage me like that. [Shrugging.] It wasn't a big enough deal I'd bring it up normally - they're right that I have to work harder figuring things out - but combined with what the note says. . .
... I'll double-check with Tsurumaru as soon as I can, since I'm supposed to be able to reach him soon. I think that he wouldn't do anything to mislead us. I know that people think that he's foolish, but he's hard-working, and I think that he'd do anything to assist me through this. He's someone that I trust, even though he's gone.
[the words seem to spill out of her without permission - ]
[and she looks startled at herself, almost partially injured.]
.... moving on—
[what was she going to say?]
I think.... that makes sense to be concerned about it. When I was talking to them... they gave me a full explanation that I shouldn't be focusing so much on Yu's murder because we've been running ourselves into the ground trying to find answers about it. And rather, that we should be looking for more ways that the murders might connect to one another.
The answer is apparently within knowing each other more than knowing the facts of what happened... or something. But if they're saying that killing each other might be necessary...
Didn't the castle say something about that? That their numbers had to be based on teams, at the end?
Hah, it's okay. Next week is fine. Figure after all the announcements you and Akira have done, lots of people trust you two.
[He's not pressed about it.]
Winter's team, Lady Macbeth. I can get rid of a curse, but it'll get passed on to somebody else randomly. So. . . I haven't been able to really use it, 'cause I'm worried I could accidentally hurt somebody else.
I received an explanation involving diagrams, but it was still a bit hard for me to decipher. PH is also a nerd.
[like. straight up.]
But supposedly last weekend - we found everything we could have as far as evidence went in order to determine Yu's killer. PH suggests that if we focus too much on what we didn't accomplish, we're not going to get any closer to answers - at least not yet. But rather, we need to start connecting the different murders together in order to see the bigger picture, and use that framework to dismantle the game itself.
[ . . . ]
It felt very abstract - but I think that might also be why he wants us to know each other's teams and powers. It's the only way to really... I don't know, get an idea of what we're up against.
Which, in the cases of these murders, is still each other.
I don't have much to go on except my gut, and the fact that the first week here, Purple let me get a punch in. They didn't have to do that, but they let me, 'cause we deserved it. So I don't think they're the type that's expecting us to sit back and play this thing out to the bitter end.
Knowing who killed Yu isn't pointless or anything, but it's probably not gonna be what gets us closer to knowing how to stop anybody from having to kill anybody else.
I wanted to punch them.... [she's pouting, but she seems glad that magnus got to.]
.... but I agree with you. It just means that we do have to start getting things right, or else we might not be able to connect the pieces correctly.
Even going back to Tsurumaru and Evan, then Yu... Two Purple Heart members died on Thursday two weeks in a row. The first time, a Black Shadows member caused it, and the second time it's unclear which team was the perpetrator. It's not yet enough for a pattern.... but if we're supposed to keep an eye on powers and teams, maybe it's related.
Technically none of us really want to be on the ruthless murder team, given that none of us are exactly excited to raise our bodycount - which is a blessing.
[like, all things considered,,]
It seems like we're trying to only stick to one casualty each week, at least.
Yeah. We talked about that. He seemed pretty surprised by the idea that three people could just all date each other. I dunno, it's sort of the situation where there's a cool girl who could probably do better than the guys she knows, but I still was rooting for those kids to work it out.
I know! Steph could do so much better! [ . . . . ] But she seems to really want them. So... I hope somehow it turns out the way they all want it to. It'd be nice, I think.

Yeah. That's why it thought it made sense, but it also made me. . . I dunno. What if the one who isn't working is pushing murders, somehow?
[Shaking his head.]
Anyway. I figured I'd tell you my team and my power, though I also figure you've used up yours for the week.

... I have....
[ :( she feels bad not reciprocrating though.]
Next week. I'll tell you.

[ . . . . ]
I'm looking for people on Black Shadows team specifically. [she seems like she was careful about trying to word that] I'll explain more next week.
But someone told me there's a theory that they might've been responsible for what happened to Yu.
no subject
[He also is careful?]
Purple told me it's a team for nerds, and that's why they keep winning at tasks every week. So if you see somebody with a magic item. . .
no subject
[that's the rough caveat, especially since more people are showing up with items]
I want to know what they've been receiving - because there's a chance it might be connected to Yu's murder.
no subject
What kind of item are you thinking?
no subject
But this is third-hand information at this point, so I don't want to put that much stock into it until I know exactly what they received.

A lot of people knew Hikage. If we don't figure shit out this week, it might get ugly.

Mm. I don't really want to get anything wrong regardless - but I'm sure that Steph and Belph are suffering from his loss.
He didn't seem that bad, when I talked to him.
