[lili is marching around the party bus, because of course she is - and she's going to frown whenever she sees flayn. not because of flayn herself but - ]
Flayn, have you had any luck finding a hair brush? Or did all of those get stolen too?
[she's so done, fam. her fingers are naturally in her hair, trying to comb out the tangles from sleep....
oh and since flayn saw her yesterday, lili appears to have a shallow cut on her cheek. it's cool]
[flayn slept with her hair down, and now her hair is tangled up. she's actually attempting to use her fingers to untangle her hair, too - birds of a feather flock together, it seems!
she isn't having much success. she makes a soft, annoyed sound in the back of her throat as she looks up.]
[i'm gonna be honest - lili probably saw flayn running away, went to investigate on what made her so upset, saw her profile, got confused, and now she's going to look for her again]
[Flayn was given the dancer outfit in her box, so by the time Lili finds her, she's gotten changed and is exploring the camp! They encounter each other near the cabins, not too long after she's come out of the ant one.]
Ah... hello, Lili.
[She looks a little more settled now, and even manages to smile!]
[GOOD MORNING LILI flayn is here on your doorstep, as promised, knocking politely on the door. time to make sure she's not grievously injured!!
if she doesn't answer flayn sure as heck will march her way down to the isolation cabin to make sure lili hasn't wound up in jail. just because we know it's probably a holding cell for whoever gets the vote at trial doesn't mean they know it's not for punishing rulebreakers.]
[finding lili is uh, hard! given how quickly she raced to the mess hall as soon as morning broke, even as the announcements were being read out. flayn probably can only catch lili's back as she ran ahead with no plan in mind.
and now it's after.
it's after she slammed into the director's door, it's after she checked the mess hall, and she looks like she's barely holding it together. and so she walks quickly through the camp, like she has somewhere to be -
she just doesn't know where that is, but she knows it's not anywhere she wants people to see her]
[Their search the night before hadn't yielded any results at all - and the news this morning, of Tsurumaru's death, has surely shaken them all. But Flayn thinks that it must be affecting Ookurikara and Lili the most.
That's confirmed when she spots her, making her quick progress through the camp. Her brow furrowing in concern, she debates whether or not to follow - perhaps she is going to find Ookurikara? ...but no, they'd set off to search together.
Flayn's heart sinks, and she follows her. Once they're a good distance away from the others, she calls out.]
They found the culprit, but Flayn's pretty sure nothing about this is going to bring Lili peace. But they have a goal, and now they have two people to save, not just one.
Flayn makes a stop at the kitchen first before she goes to look for Lili. When she finds her, she's holding two cups of green tea, one of which she offers to her immediately.]
Here. I promise you, I brew tea much more skillfully than I cook.
[well, flayn will find her by the bonfire. she's sitting there, staring into the flames with an almost alarming level of concentration - and so she doesn't notice flayn until she's already offering a cup out to her
she looks delighted. her cheeks are flushed. she's holding a freshly-picked peony. also, she appears to be wearing a flower crown? it looks clumsily made, but she doesn't look like she minds. uh-oh.]
[so, no idea where lili is, but flayn's looking for her! ...and she's got tea with her again. two teacups. she's gripping them tightly, which isn't really helping, because her hands are shaking.
[lili's not doing so hot either. she's in the garden this time, looking a bit paler today, even as she gathers a bunny in her lap and is feeding it snacks.
she looks up when she sees flayn - and beckons her to sit beside her.]
... Flayn, your hands. You'll spill.
[she'll take one cup from her, if only to try to prevent a fashion disaster]
[flayn is no longer sure what she's expecting from these strange bursts of memory as she comes across people - but even attempting to keep to herself doesn't seem to be working, and, like.
she can't just stay in her cabin all day. eventually, she's going to have to eat. she's on her way to the kitchen when she comes across lili, and though she's glad to see her, she can't help but feel a little resigned to what's sure to come next.
and sure enough - moments after making eye contact, lili is viewing a memory through her eyes.
her hands are smaller. younger, perhaps. they're pressed against a door, and she's leaning against it with her ear pressed to the wood, straining to hear the voices on the other side.
"—situation is dire, Cichol."
the voice that speaks is a woman's. it's stern, but sounds incredibly sad. the voice that speaks in return is a man's, lower and more muted, and she can't hear what he says in response - though she is able to make out the woman's response back to him.
"I know you wish to keep her safe, but we cannot allow them to get away with such a massacre!"
flayn's hands clench into fists, and she takes a shaky breath. there is a thud from the other side of the door akin to the sound of a fist pounding on a table.
"I know you want revenge, Seiros, but I cannot put Cethleann into harm's way—"
"This is not about revenge!"
flayn winces at the sound of raised voices.
"You have seen what they have done already. You saw what they did to Mother! What more will they do to the people of this land? How many people will you let suffer?"
"Seiros—"
all at once, flayn's hands grip the handle of the door, and she wrenches it open. a woman and a man, both of whom look upset and a little surprised, stand on the other side. before either of them can speak, flayn does - and her voice sounds younger, somehow, than it does in the camp.
"Father, I want to help!"
—the memory ends, there, and flayn steps back from lili with a gasp.]
[the truth is that lili isn't entirely afraid of sharing these memories. she lives openly, acknowledging all that she's done rather carelessly. she's dropped most of her backstory in casual conversation by now.
but she can tell that's not the case with flayn, startled as the girl steps back from her. had she seen something she wasn't supposed to then? who is cethleann? seriso? cichol?
lili reaches out to the other girl as if to steady her -
but it doesn't stop her own memory from playing. in it, there's a fear that seems to shake throughout her body. something so paralyzing that she can't even stand, she can't find the ability to do much other than sit and cry.
but through the fear and hopelessness, one feeling rings true:
which means, almost first thing, flayn's going to seek her out. as she said before, they need to talk. or rather - flayn has something she needs to tell her.]
...Lili?
[she looks so guilty. there is no need to touch her and get blasted with her feelings to be able to tell that much.]
[they definitely need to chat, and lili is just going to be examining the new rope course curiously. she turns back when she hears flayn and just sighs]
Did you curse me, Ash, and Kara to fall in love with each other to try to negate us hating each other?
So, in turn, did you curse Asch and Zenitsu to fall in love last week?
[like. she's just going to jump to it considering what flayn told her before.]
[WELL, SHE'S GOING TO CART FLAYN OVER TO THE NURSE'S OFFICE - and unfortunately emotionshare means that flayn gets to deal with the swirling chaos of how much lili feels all the time. there's the ever-present anger at their situation, which is only flaring up worse now that some of her favorite people have managed to get hurt this badly. there's the determination to do something to help them, the incessant want for more than what they have. a greedy desire to grab whatever she has at hand to just
fix things.
but it's still overshadows in this moment by concern, by worry, by the recognition that time is precious and they'll need to move swiftly.]
... I helped take care of one of Kara's injuries before, but we'll still have to be careful.
[AND AWAY THEY GO. flayn seems a little uncomfortable, but that's, you know, to be expected, given... injuries, and all.
some of the frustration she's been feeling fades out as they make their way there - with some distance from it, she doesn't feel quite so useless. still, there's not really any letting up in the anxious, guilty feeling... but hey, that's what happens when you're in murder camp.]
I can instruct you. [she takes a breath.] I have dealt with battlefield injuries quite frequently. This is nothing new.
lili is going to be looking for flayn - it looks like she's wearing a different dress today. she brings a pot of tea on a tray, and two cups, so that whatever she and flayn drink is the same thing, as if to prove it can't be poisoned. but she'll put it off to the side once she finds her in the garden
she also looks like she's been crying - her eyes are red and her face is a mess. well, more of a mess than the scar has made it. she might have been upset about that, any other week, but honestly?
it doesn't really feel like it matters anymore.
her expression is blank as lili approaches, and stays blank as she kneels down - but when she speaks, she looks up, just enough to indicate that she's heard her.]
...if they figure that out, they will try to silence you.
[and if the killer is caught, then lili -
oh, god. if they execute yin yu's killer, lili will die, too.]
[maybe it's foolish to head for the gardens, given the fact that it's very likely that yin yu died there. but it's where her feet take her as she's wandering, unable to stay still.
her thoughts and feelings are a whirlwind. she hates this.
when lili finds her, she's staring at the flowers again - although this time, she's got yin yu's repaired mask in her lap.]
lili is back to normal. somehow. she at least doesn't maintain the same level of unaffected distance as she had during trial, and instead will just go to sit next to her.]
.... we found who did it. Like I told you we would.
[well. lili's a mess. but at least by this point in the day, she's no longer - obviously crying? her eyes are red and there are probably tear tracks on her cheeks that she missed when wiping her face but.
she's on her way to the mountains, given that she heard that's where flayn was last headed. it's slow, and her legs look like they're been very, very haphazardly bandaged compared to before but - at least they're fresh?
[flayn's coming back down the mountain! her cheeks are pale and her eyes are red from crying, but - well, she looks absolutely horrified when she sees lili out and about. she rushes over to help steady her.]
when flayn heads in, she pauses in the doorway as she spots lili. ...after the way she'd left the mess hall, she - honestly doesn't seem sure what to say.]
[lili is in the kitchen. she's cooking - it smells good. japanese food. but she's glancing toward flayn.
and when she gave her that hug during trial, she also didn't think that minutes later she would lose the person most important to her. it feels like a double failure.]
... what is it.
[she is so tired - but there is a hum of rage that seems to sit beneath her words.]
kara is probably still pissed (but they avoid each other), and anaido... well, anaido seemed angry, but she definitely can't blame him for that, so. it isn't really any trouble. everyone else has been remarkably understanding.
