[well it's a new day and everything is still awful. lili isn't throwing herself at windows or trying to mess with luigi boards anymore, but she is sort of taking a patrol(?) through the crowded party bus. she's looking around as she goes, her fingers busying with trying to tangle out the knots in her hair -
but like. there's not that much space with forty people. she will pretty inevitably run bump into dimitri while she's distracted]
Hey—[she looks like she's gonna fight but - ] Oh, it's you.
[apparently dimitri is allowed to exist. something about him does manage to be distantly familiar to her, at least.]
Have you seen any of the knives? [a beat] Or a hairbrush?
lili is probably wandering around as she always is? what is she always doing. where is she going. but she will find dimitri at some point and raise a hand]
[it takes a while to find her, after everything initially happens.
but if he looks long and hard enough, letting his footsteps take him to the very far entrance of camp, there curled up at the base of the sign, there is a lili-shaped lump. her knees are pulled into her chest, head bowed forward against them, and -
well, she's not very subtle, so it's pretty clear she's just not very interested in being found.]
[ He does eventually find her, because he's definitely looking. After everything the night before, where they'd all searched together and worked together and passed out, armed and together, this still happens.
It's not surprising she'd want to be alone, and he makes sure his steps are loud enough that his approach can be heard. Quietly, ]
Lili. [ Just enough invitation to tell him to get lost, if she wants. ]
[ Dimitri's not really a hard person to find, even when he's not seeking out company. He's predictably in his cabin for some fraction of the night, answering when he hears a knock. ]
—Ah. Hello, Lili.
[ His words are polite, but his tone is not so exuberant. ] Were you looking for Ookurikara? It's just me right now, I'm afraid.
[blah blah costume change, lili is here for a shoujo date between nobility even though they're mostly going to talk about how to address wealth inequality]
Dimitri - might I borrow you?
[a beat]
And I suppose we can call it a date, if you would like to fulfill a task for this week.
but she wanders toward the memorial hall anyway, if only because she's been looking all over the camp for dimitri. she walks into it, and her voice is soft when she calls out to him, tinged with concern.
(the rest of it is still barely veiled anger, but at least it's not at him.)]
[ Another weekend, another failure. As a result, he's been spending a lot of time here, lately. It's quiet, at least. Eerily so, but at least he can hear the hint of emotion in her voice.
and lili is coming back to dragon cabin, probably about to ask someone to let her in - when she notices someone above at work. there's absolutely a moment where she's going to try to climb up onto the roof along with him, despite the rain. this won't go wrong at all.
even so she's just tilting her head as she tries to get his attention - ]
Dimitri?
[ - though it is interrupted when a memory suddenly hits them both. a memory that takes place in a blazing hot desert, all the while lili's throat screams in need of water.]
[ He is doing his best, but lo and behold, he is not very good at this. He could probably use the help as the rain starts to come down a bit, but when he instinctively turns to look to Lili as she greets him, his vision goes dark.
—It's not his memory, but he recalls the sweltering heat with such vividness that it may as well be. The first taste of water sings. He remembers the fear of rough hands, of a blade at her throat, and of a sharp, ceramic edge in her hands when it sinks into flesh and hits something solid.
It ends with an escape. Where could she run? Out into the sands? The ache in her throat is brutal.
Anyway, he missteps as he stumbles out of the reverie, his body trying to walk along after this bright-haired girl, and he goes right off the roof past Lili. Whoops. ]
[ at least lili barging into their cabin makes it easier to catch her alone once in a while. the weather is still nasty, so he's bringing back probably the 1000th thermos of tea, but he pauses at the doorway, thoughtful. ]
there's one other person that lili is absolutely and certainly going to check on today. she comes back to dragon cabin after some info exchanges and also after she goes to grab some tea. this cabin drinks so much tea.
she's wearing one sweater that is too large for her and then another jacket that is also too large for her on top of it because it's the only way she's keeping her teeth from chattering.
after she enters, she immediately looks to dimitri.]
[ Dimitri, for all his fine training of politeness and his genuine fondness for their friendship, is clipped when he responds, changing out from his usual overcoat to one that's more dry. He's been out in the snow a while now, though he shows no signs of shivering. ]
Fine.
[ He's not sure how else to answer that, so he moves on. ]
You were at the memorial hall with Yin Yu, weren't you? I've heard reports from there and the nurse's hall, as well as my own discovery at the showers.
[ he's out by the forest, pondering something, spear in hand. it's still cold out, fresh snow falling in a lazy drift. it mutes the noise, but he still hears lili coming. ]
I don't think you're going to like hearing it, and I don't know how it fits in with everything else yet... but I think you deserve to know, so we can figure out how to move forward knowing it.
she's back in dragon cabin, and she'd holding onto her usual dress - the problem with it is that she seems to be fixated on some blood that's concentrated on the front of it. lili herself looks terrible, her eyes red from tears, even though she's changed into a different set of clothes with a different neckline. a bandage probably peeks it from underneath it, placed over her sternum.
when she sees dimitri come back, she stares at him]
... Dimitri.
I'm going to start trial tomorrow by harming myself, so don't be alarmed when it happens.
[ He looks about as harrowed as the week before, shadows under his eyes, but he's still present enough that his eyelashes flutter in surprise at her declaration. ]
...Lili.
[ ...He should argue, but. He just goes quiet a moment, then speaks, more carefully than usual. ]
[ well. he doesn't really know what to expect, with how she is right now, but. he's here, stepping into dragon cabin like he doesn't actually live here, intrusive somehow. ]
funny story is that she's fine, sitting up when she sees him and she has the nerve to give him a stern glare.]
I didn't get to comment during trial but don't just offer yourself up as a more likely candidate just because you didn't have a curfew effect! You have some nerve, telling me not to die and then just putting more of a target on yourself than necessary!
[ the lounge is pretty nice, even if he's seen enough wine for the rest of his life. he'll just get some water or something, it's fine... in any case, it's apparently tradition for them now to go off and get some tasks done, because maybe if they're actively collaborating, their team score will get better? maybe?
[hate EVERYTHING and EVERYONE - but she's healed!! amazing! she loves being healed! and once she confirms that the rest of the dead are fine and no longer glitching, she's going to run for dimitri
and let both of her hands reach out for his arm to get his attention, very urgently]
Dimitri!
Asch has something to tell you that he's too much of a coward to!
[ physically, he feels better than he has in weeks. crazy how all those scrapes and bruises and stab wounds and glitches add up over time. he's sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop, but he's here. ]

but like. there's not that much space with forty people. she will pretty inevitably run bump into dimitri while she's distracted]

Have you seen any of the knives? [a beat] Or a hairbrush?
[her two priorities]
no subject
No... it seems they've all been taken.
[ where the hell did people manage to take KNIVES?? in any case, they're missing, which is of obvious concern.
a beat. ]
The knives, I mean. I do not think we had any hairbrushes to begin with. [ Tragic. ]
